Newsletter 013

✨ Happy 3-2-1 treats day!✨

Good day everyone,

It is time for another round of our newsletter.

Did you know that on the 23.04.2005 (19 years ago) the first ever YouTube video was uploaded? It is called me at the zoo and features YouTubes co-founder Jawed Karim.

This time I prepared 3 things for learners, 2 things for doers, and 1 question for thinkers all about the topic of videos and animations. No matter if you are a learner, a doer, a thinker, two or all of them, we hope you’ll find something to enjoy.

3 things for learners

Optimize video delivery

Incredible scroll-based animations with CSS-only

Index images, videos and news with specialized sitemaps
https://www.stefanjudis.com/today-i-learned/image-video-news-sitemaps/

2 things for doers

CSS animation kit
https://angrytools.com/css/animation/

Video and Audio APIs (Tutorial on how to use native video/audio HTML elements with custom controls)
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Learn/JavaScript/Client-side_web_APIs/Video_and_audio_APIs

1 question for thinkers

What are disadvantages of videos and animations on websites and how can we make sure every user has the best possible experience?

Thank you for reading!

If you have any resources you think your colleagues should know about, please let me know, so it can be added to a future newsletter.

P.S.: Do you love to challenge yourself a bit? Here is a small gift for you!

🎁 Below you will find a small coding challenge in every newsletter. Feel free to discuss the challenge with others/your juniors and trainees, with your team or even your cactus. 🌵
